Greetings, It seems to be said that Claudia Sanders Dinner House serve up the original fried chicken by the Colonel. Or at least, that is what top comments seem to be saying on reddit threads on KFC. Anybody tried it and compared yet? I have tried searching in this forum but I don't think I saw any threads about that yet. On a side note, I am fascinated with the work you guys have done in chasing a memory. The Colonel's chicken must have been something really special.

Hi weewaaweewaa, A warm welcome to the kfc11 forum. FWIW, there is some talk about Claudia Sanders in this thread... kfc11.proboards.com/post/556/threadI think if you search for her full name in the kfc11 forum search, you will see a few threads about her and the restaurant. I live too far away, in the UK, to have ever eaten there, but I’m sure the chicken recipe there will be pretty good. See link below: claudiasanders.com

So from what I gather, Claudia Sanders Dinner House serve up fried chicken that is similar to the 99-X, with less MSG. However, that is decades back and we have no idea whether the restaurant still uses the same recipe now. However over the years 99-X does seem to be watered down by having more salt in the mixture.
I am primarily interested in the questions "What can a person do in 2018 to eat CHS' fried chicken as it was originally served?" and also "How good will the Colonel's chicken (and the alternatives determined in question 1) be compared to other modern day restaurants?".
So I think, with the current information I have, it seems like the best option one can do is still to home-cook one of TCK/kfc11's recipe.
As for the second question, online reviews don't seem to rate Claudia Sanders' as a top visit, though it seems like a good restaurant.

A lot of my own personal research is based around Marion Kay’s 99x recipe.
My personal thoughts are that 99x was initially the Colonel’s ingredients, minus the garlic powder (perhaps?). It was definitely created by Bill Summers and the Colonel to 'zing' the poor quality ingredients in the corporate recipe seasoning.
I think the reason 99x is now so salty is that during the 'out of Court settlement' in the early 1980’s between MK and the KFC Corp. (& Others), Bill Summers agreed to remove some of the ingredients from his 99x recipe.
There is a previous president for such ingredient removal, if you would care to look at the court case between The Colonel and his nephew Lee Cummings and their out of court settlement, whereby Cummings was requested to remove 4 herbs and spices from his recipe.
Anyhow, a long story short, It is my personal guess that the things missing from 99x besides the garlic powder is...
Savory Clove Allspice
I think rather than altering the 99x packaging, MK may have added extra salt to their mix to bring its container weight back up to the nearest whole ounce.
