If using ASTA measures in your recipe. be sure to specify "rubbed" sage also. The ASTA page states "Spices, sage, ground" and that 1 tsp weighs 0.700 grams.
I have both ground and rubbed on hand, so I checked using proper measuring methods. DO NOT scoop the spice from the container with the measuring spoon,
as it will pack the spice. Instead pour the spice from the container into the spoon and level. I did this with "rubbed" sage and an accurate set of measuring
spoons and came in just a bit over at 0.719 grams. I repeated this method with "ground" sage and came in at over one and a half time the target weight.
