Where can I find Jamaican Ginger? I may start my trials with the spices from Marion Kay, But I am of the thought that Ginger is an extremely important part of making the recipe.
I came to this conclusion after eating 99x chicken with Pickled Ginger on the side! The juices added an amazing flavor.

I got my Jamaican Ginger via a retailer on eBay in the U.K .. It is a 1lb bag made by island spice. (Note: the Ginger packaged by the similarly named 'Spice Island' company is NOT the same).

I just spoke with Bobbi today at Marion-Kay Spices and she told me that their ginger is, in fact, Jamaican ginger.

I have achieved good results using:
Badia Spices (ginger) badiaspices.com
Although the Badia brand ginger is not specifically identified as Jamaican, the company's manufacturing site of Doral Florida, and the very strong flavor of the ginger, leads me to believe they may import the spice from the nearby island of Jamaican. Could be wrong, but the flavor seems spot on.
I have used the Frontier ginger and it was far weaker than the Badia brand.

I literally just finished grinding my own ginger after drying it for hours in the oven and when i took the lid off my grinder the smell just about punched me in the face. Smells amazing! If you're having trouble sourcing jamaican ginger like me u might wanna try making your own ground ginger. Granted i have never tried jamaican ginger before so i can't make the comparison but i heard that it is peeled before being ground unlike some other powdered gingers so thats what i did, then diced into tiny pieces and slowly dried in the oven on very low heat and it smells about 100 times better than the usual store bought ones i buy.
