In the beginning of my research I used what I thought to be a "generic" ground white pepper. It is probably the best white pepper I have used to date, I noted it was a very fine dustless grind. When I researched it, what I discovered was it was not a generic at all. But packaged and distributed by McCormick. We use Marion-Kay spices in our recipes as a benchmark, I list their white pepper as Indonesian Muntok ground to 24 mesh in my recipes. When I did an inquiry to McCormick about their white pepper they informed me that it is sourced from Indonesia and Malaysia (indicating Muntok and Sarawak pepper) and that their mesh was proprietary, but a fine grind. Since it was dustless, I would guess it would be a compound mesh of 40/60.
The bottom line here is, if you are needing a good quality white pepper, there is no need to go to the expense of purchasing solely from Marion-Kay. If you can get McCormick, it will be fine. They also sell white pepper in 18 oz. bulk under their "Culinary" line, it is sourced from Indonesia (Muntok) and is their same proprietary fine grind.

While mccormick is good, nothing comes close to MK. That bandaid medicinal smell from MK is super potent with their white pepper.
