A message is no better than the ears that can hear and understand it. Does a falling tree in the forest make a sound?

The simple answer is no. However, a falling tree does make a vibration with its movement through the air and subsequent collision with the ground. Some would argue that if the tree was unnaturally felled then it would also emit a sonic disturbance, akin to screaming. However if "no one" that is a human, was there to detect the vibration and convert that into a brain stimulus that we subsequently associate with the concept of sound, then the answer, it follows, is no.

What about Bob?
He works as a forester but was away on vacation on the day the tree fell and therefore did not detect any sonic vibrations through the air. However, Bob is a resourceful naturalist. He has a CCTV installation that captures wildlife footage in the woodlands. As luck would have it, his cameras captured the audiovisual footage of the falling tree.
What should he expect to see and hear? Will his initial impression change? Can we generalise the situation to reach a definite answer for all undiscovered falllen trees?
...just playing devil’s advocate here.

It wouldn't be the tree making the sound, but the recording device making the sound heard. Now if you want to get into past tenses, you could argue that the tree "had made" the sound.

Although it is the olfactory system that predominately connects us to the note, willy, you must admit that the polyphony produced by it will delight our ears!

I couldn't argue with such a beautifully stated proposition. It is a shame that our language is being destroyed by the Collectivists.
