DTM Eulogy to Lumpy:
I would like to thank everyone for being here this morning today. We will start off with a Eulogy titled “Lumpy a Friend To All. ” We will then have a brief history and I will share some Bible verses.
“Lumpy a Friend To All ” I first met Lumpy in 2008 at Mark’s chicken site. He was a jolly fellow with aged wisdom. He knew much about everything. He would post his insight into the O.R. from first hand tasting experience. This was a rarity since most of us never had the O.R. from the 1950’s or 1960’s.
But he did. I looked up to him and admired him. He spoke plainly, had good manners and was always thinking about what might be in the O.R.. he posted his recipe findings with delight. I made all of his recipes at once; enjoying them.
When it was time for me to leave Mark’s site and build my own Lumpy joined my site. He was the number #2 member. Since I didn’t know anything about building a chicken site I asked him many questions. He stayed by my side instructing me as I went along.
Lumpy was always the guy to give a loving hand. He would joke with me day after day. Making us all laugh. He created many Glasbergen comics which I loved. His best was of MoxyRoxy. There were times we had heated debates and he would say things he later regretted but the next day he was back to his cool level headed self. That is what I loved about him. When Mark questioned him for hanging out with me he defended me. Finally Lumpy left to make his own site which we all applauded him for it. Day after day he would go to his site posting what he was working on.
We all worked even harder. When Lumpy’s site closed we tried to save it to no avail. He went on to build other sites but nothing ever came close his first site titled “Lumpy’s Larder.” When he helped Mark post a chicken recipe with vanilla in it and was 100% certain “This was it!”
It would take a year until he would come around to see it was not. He finally agreed. He continued to tinker with the O.R. trying his best to perfect it until the very end of his life. He was amazing to watch. Towards the end we grew further apart from each other but he came to my many sites daily.
He was indeed a friend to all. Lumpy was the icing on the cake. He made each day worth getting up for. I didn’t always agree with everything he did which most of you know about but I admired him nonetheless. I loved him and I hope he knew that.
