My best guess at the contents of this bag. Rounded to 1 decimal place
99-x 25oz Bag (1977-1980)
8 Pepper 6 MSG 2.6 Salt(Garlic) 2 Sage 1.6 Allspice 1.4 Red Pepper 1.2 Coriander 0.8 Ginger 0.6 Savory 0.6 Thyme 0.2 Oregano 25oz

I'm OK with everyone trying to figure out 99-X, but as consensus generally places it at roughly about 80% to 90% of the flavor/aroma of KFC OR, it is nothing more than a dead end. The common complaint is that something seems to be missing. And when people zing it, as in adding more than is recommended, it is still missing. A myriad of our recipes taste at least that good. I contend that getting (on average) ~85% of the way there simply doesn't cut it, and isn't a major accomplishment. If 99-X once tasted and smelled just like KFC OR, it doesn't anymore.

I think based on ingredients. This bag is different then the plastic containers that I have photos of. Notably the missing Allspice and Red Pepper. This version may taste different. The question I have is how far off is this from the bags CHS recommended that the Canadian stores use. He certainly felt it was better than what corp was supplying at the time.
I also believe that recipes claiming to be the OR. Should come with a timeline. 1952, pre sale to Brown, MK era, 1970's, 90's, today. Because it changed over time. No one recipe is the OR until it is tied to a time.

I see Allspice on the bag but where did you see Red Pepper?

The Tabasco Pepper was likely popular in southern USA in 1939. When eaten alone (fresh or dry) it tastes nothing at all like Tabasco Sauce.

Well the colonel had a tin of cayenne, so that's a good possibility.

KFC chicken boxes at one time stated right on the box that Paprika (a Red Pepper) was one of the eleven.

Does it show Red Pepper on the bag?

Does it show Red Pepper on the bag? yes. If you pause it at the right time you can just make it out. sage, allspice, red pepper (the red and pepper is on 2 lines) and then i can't read what's after that.

I'm fairly certain that there is evidence indicating that Paprika was fingered to be the culprit that was prematurely spoiling the cooking oil and destroying profitability potential thereby, and that it was eventually removed from the ingredients list. Everyone old enough remembers that at some juncture KFC OR went from being a darker brown/red to a lighter brown/yellow.

In the video his dad Ed Sanders says "This is thee recipe" and pulls out a plastic bag which looks like a Marion-Kay bag inside it. Do I have that correct?
