The first barcode on retail packaging dates to June of 1974.

My personal thought is the bag is from around 1976-1978 era. I also believe that this version is likely what CHS gave to Shelton. I have post a timeline that links some of this as plausible.

Anthony informed me that the time frame during which the colonel gave it to his grandpa is from 1975 to 1979.
In my opinion, it is closer to the late 1970s because the bag indicates “3lbs of salt” instead of “4lbs of salt” as shown in the 1976 image.

Dustin I had it 1976-78 based on some packaging evidence and timeline info. So I’d agree with Anthony. I’ll also for now stand by that this is the recipe he gave to Shelton. Which was likely not the pre sale OR version.
