Thanks. It was a very good attempt but the picture was taken too far away. You can't see the texture in detail like you can KFC vials. Color is off as well. What should be done is take a closer picture of each vial then join them together as one picture. If you can make vial K which is known to be black pepper match your NEW vials in every way then it would be easier to see any other exact match.

Sorry guys, I posted these in 2017. Since then I've moved to an entirely new country. I no longer have the vials in question - well if I did, they're buried in a box somewhere, Lord knows where though...
From recollection, without reading back through the thread, the standout issue for me was the vanilla. It was absolutely clear to me that vanilla (Tahitian, or not?) was not in the original vials BECAUSE vanillin tends to crystallise, kinda like an exudate, out of the bean and there is no evidence of such crystals in the, "11 Vials" whereas it was patently obvious in the sample that I had bottled.
Still, If someone else would be willing to, with proper sized vials, give it a go, I too would love to see the result.

Back to my vial image theories. This one has been one of my longest running theories about what could be in Vial I.. File' powder, back when the CHS was still actually making his chicken, could account for the stickiness to the breading and the slight root beer flavor we all might be mistaking for the hint of anise. I ran this by Ken about a year or two ago but I never really pursued it. Vial I by douglas adcock, on Flickr

I'm looking at the 144 vials for $27.99.

questfor11 can you buy it today? Yes, it's available. Not all grocers carry it though. It's more readily available in the southern states. I'm in Illinois and I can find at Woodman's.

Clearly vial I was NOT filled all the way up to the top. There are 3 gaps. I suspect because it was sage. It was so light in weight that the person filling it though they filled it properly. If you were to join all of those 3 pieces in vial I you would then see how much was truly missing.

TT, Yes, lots of stuff in the image library for all members of this forum to view anytime. I also have a mountain of personal searchable notes from the past few years. It's good to look back over my notes occasionally and read the things I had forgotten about... The little grey cells are not as good as they used to be. One of your pics.. www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#A3Grq0zwGq3yag;92D8BC3D-B23E-4020-9094-2C3826681442 shows the breading flour 25lbs and salt box 2lb. So that's 8% salt... which means for 400g flour shouldn't we be using 32 grams of salt ? Seems to little though. But even with the garlic salt it doesn't increase it to near the normal 48g.

sigh. didn't post the link properly. I'm sure you know the pic though. Also the pic saying '10 of the 11 herbs and spices aare secret, the other? paprika. How come paprika has been ruled out if they actually claim it to be in there?

Are food companies allowed to make false claims about the ingredients of their products? So the same could be with the vials, nothing more than made up marketing fun?

It was a different atmosphere back then. Nobody today is going to bring a lawsuit against KFC for them making a funny box of themselves.

" . . . I've moved to an entirely new country. I no longer have the vials in question . . . " Some of us are just curious. Where did you move from and to where? And what was most satisfactory? Australia to China, to Vietnam, to Germany, and back to China. Been on the go since 2000. Satisfactory? I'm not quite sure I understand the question. China and Vietnam were both quite fruitful work-wise. Now, I dwell under a wifi bridge, and I'm an online p.i.t.a to all and sundry. ... so much for, career development, and personal ambition...
