People asked for photos / video which I’ve done, it seemed to be sharing my whole family collection as well on iCloud, so took it down till I can sort photos and shortened videos available on imgur under nitebeatdisco , but don’t know if these are findable as new to that platform.

I was watching the 3rd video taste test and seen a few intresting comment in the comments section By a lady called jennifer silvia who said her aunty worked at swansons in the 70s They used to wash the chickens in a machine that would also HERES THE INTRESTING PART take the skin off the chicken Then they would put the chicken skin in a blender with buck wheat flour and the herbs and water to make a batter the chicken was then dippen in the buck wheat and chicken skin batter thats how they got chicken flavour In there crust and the buck wheat adds another flavour This was mentioned in the comments i though that sounded really intresting
Has any one here tried putting chicken skin in the breading i dont know if it sounds crazy or good

This is how McDonald's also do there chicken mcnuggets breading. It's a big process for mass produced frozen chicken brands.

Looks like Glen either gave up or is going to stretch this out for a couple of years. There is no new video in a long time.

... I isolated the black specs in the 1998 KFC seasoning, and it wasn't black pepper. It was a tasteless type of ash... If it was like ash, and it is not pepper, then it might possibly be charcoal. A look under a microscope might sort that point out.

A look under a microscope might sort that point out. I always thought that in Vial C , it was either hickory smoke salt or charcoal seasoning . But i don't know how they will taste or work with other KFC seasoning . It is sad that people from TCK tried everything from tarragon to vanilla bean but they didn't investigate the smoking seasonings . I saw Lumpy last post . He said he read in sanders book that his O.R. is 11 spice n herbs n seasonings . Poultry seasoning could only be 1 ingredient . That's a possibility .

It is sad that people from TCK tried everything from tarragon to vanilla bean but they didn't investigate the smoking seasonings . Perhaps some of the reasons we did not go down that road was that nobody tasted a hint of smokey flavor in the O.R.. Also, everyone makes smoking seasonings different. We would probably not get a consensus. On top of that it would not be a herb or a spice used in CHS day. Vanilla was the biggest failure.

There could be some truth to it. In the one excerpt from a book an old timer from the business said the secret to the colonels recipe was nothing other than a confectioners salt.
Confection = sweet Salt
What makes up a confectioners salt? Some examples:
Gravy Salt. Comptons in particular is made of caramel coloring and salt. Basically it is a hardened brick form of kitchen bouquet or Browning. Been around for years. Burdalls was another brand.
Old hickory smoked salt. Morton's had a plain without sugar and one with. Spice islands has had there version since the 40s. It has unsweetened cocoa powder in as a flavor carrier. Could be the ash like substance.
As far as absence of the Smokey flavor it could be just that it's in a miniscule amount. The vintage boxes of Shake n Bake listed natural hickory flavor as an ingredient but I don't think you could actually taste it in the finished product.
Just more to think about.
