TPM, I have to be entirely honest here TPM. but my memory around this matter really does fail me on this occasion, but... Looking at the date of radioman's last post and the forum link below showing the old recipes... I don’t think he did send me the (later) kid knievel recipe 3.0. kfc11.proboards.com/board/42/old-tck-forum-recipesMaybe radioman will read this thread and say that he did, but if so, I truly don’t recollect it and I have no idea what may have happened to the recipe. My thoughts at the moment are, that I never received any follow up on his last post. Ken

Mike thanks for doing that research and finding the KK 3.0 recipe.. I have copied the text from that page and when I get chance, I will put his version 3.0 into the archive, for posterity.
Thanks Again...
Ken

Just looking at some of the old forums and what precious little has been archived, Lumpy (a researcher I highly respected) on Lumpy's Larder, wrote the following: Posted: Wed Oct 20, 2010 8:44 am Post subject: Reply with quote I sincerely believe that I will be able to disclose the Secret Recipe this week. However, it's creator should do so first.
All of you folks who have seriously been part of our quest, will understand that different herbs and spices can give similar results. That's why we've tried Anise, Basil, Fennel, Tarragon and Star Anise to get a particular flavor. The naysayers will be surprised when they learn what provides it.
Until today, BruceB's recipe was positively, absolutely the best O.R. recipe I had ever tasted. Those of you who have tried it will agree. Frankly, I didn't think it could be surpassed. I was wrong. In my humble opinion (even with the rotting tastebuds that DTM constantly ridicules), I know the O.R. has been found by another researcher.
Except for the salt, the quantities in his recipe are perfect and the ratios are bang on.
It is only 0930 EDT here and I've already cooked 2 batches of this new recipe. My grandson stayed home from school today because he apparently had the flu. It must be the chicken flu based on how he gobbled down a couple of chicken legs I gave him for breakfast. Jeez, I wonder what he's going to be like when he's old enough to quaff a pint of beer. Does this make me a bad granddad?
Anyway, there are many people we need to thank for their considerable effort during this quest and I plan on doing that in another post. Right now I need to eat more O.R. chicken and dry the tears from my eyes.
L( source: web.archive.org/web/20101029183517/http://kfc2009.forumup.ca/about404-0-asc-0-kfc2009.html) Which I believe was related to the heralded release of TCK34D on the TCK KFC Forumup forum. ( ref: web.archive.org/web/20151215033937/http://kfc.forumup.co.uk/about1529-kfc.html) Along with bruceB's original forum ( web.archive.org/web/20160514035756/http://bruceb.myfunforum.org:80/) none of these forums are available to the general public or indeed are online anymore. One of the significant problems with the archive.org echos is that these forums block spiders and robots, so depending on how deep a spider is programmed to look, eg. 2 pages, 3 pages, etc. or how often to visit, malicious activity or nested pages do not get recorded. A quick look at the indexes of these defunct forums will give an indication of how much has been lost. Be that as it may, nine years on we are STILL trying to solve the riddle of the O.R. If I could give one piece of advice to new replicators, do yourselves a favour, Trial what was believed to be the best of the best at the height of euphoria almost 10 years ago. Try Lumpy's Recipe, then BruceB's Recipe, then the recipe TCK34D for which they "ALMOST" gave up the search for the O.R., and heralded the demise and collapse of the mighty TCK forum. Do yourself a favour and look at some of the leading light of those forums, some of the names are still here, sometimes commenting, but mostly lurking, try their latest and greatest recipes as well. And if anyone has a full size copy of the graphic, "How the O.R. used to Taste," please share it with us all, (or post it to Ken, for its own board location under Recipes of Old) it's an important artefact. Cheers.

Of course, after you've tried Lumpy's, BruceB's, and TCK's recipes it doesn't stop there, you most definitely then have to try Dprovo's, or KG's latest, and Jane's recipe as well. I, like a few others, was not fully convinced by TCK34D, but I do revisit these recipes to reset my palate and thoughts, whenever I get too wild in my flights of fancy, which I believe, is a good thing to periodically do. I'm not afraid to try other recipes, but I still have to find a way to rapidly prototype recipes and analyse them for cooked aroma and flavour, without cooking a whole chook each and every time... chicken wings! no, I'm not swearing (good curse but... ) No! chicken wings... how much do they weigh? easy to deep fry in scant oil in a milk pot, who long would it take? walk out of the apartment and then back in, smell the room... make some gravy with the cracklings (what no cracklings? pull some of the breading off and drop it into the fat) ... could be a way to differentiate between recipes and recipe variations before deciding to go the next step and do a full batch? Oh! I'm off on another direction again... trouble is the scant amount of spices and herbs needed for small batch... just as well I've got a balance that goes to .001g +/- 0.0005g... certainly ain't no kitchen scale... chicken wings...Sorry! I drifted off, got a bit divergent. Cheers. TPM.

Right now I need to eat more O.R. chicken and dry the tears from my eyes. It should be noted for clarity that Lumpy later came to his tastbuds that this recipe was not the O.R.. I was spot on about his tastebuds then. Sadly he passed away shortly after that. I spoke to his daughter several times afterwards. I don't know why an old timer like Lumpy got so carried away about putting vanilla in chicken. After that people no longer trusted him or Mark. TCK was finished. It was over for them. Others would go on making better recipes. Lumpy carried the torch for a long time. His real name was Paul. He made us laugh with his wit. It was a great time.
